About this role
The Director, AI Architecture & Governance defines and governs enterprise-scale AI and Generative AI architectures across Sarepta’s life sciences work. The role sets technical standards, platform strategy, and governance frameworks that enable AI/ML teams to deliver solutions safely and at scale. It works with Enterprise Systems, Computer System Validation (CSV), and Enterprise Data Systems (EDS) across R&D, clinical, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain enterprise AI reference architecture covering data, models, orchestration, and integration patterns. Evaluate build, buy, and partner options, and establish approved tooling and platform patterns for AI/ML and agentic capabilities.
- Establish AI/ML governance and validation standards, including traceability, auditability, and human oversight, aligned with CSV and applicable regulatory expectations.
- Define AI data-access and security models with EDS, aligned with data ownership, quality controls, and enterprise data governance.
- Oversee execution of the AI use-case portfolio against standards and measurable outcomes; business stakeholders, not this role, set priorities. Clarify team ownership and turn standards into implementable patterns and adoption plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in a quantitative or technical field is preferred. The posting specifies a BA/BS with 12+ years of related experience or an MA/MS with 10+ years, as well as 8+ years in AI/ML, data platforms, or enterprise architecture roles involving reference architectures and cross-team standards.
- Experience evaluating platforms and driving adoption in complex enterprises. Strong understanding of AI/ML architecture and integration, modern data platforms, cloud architecture, governance, security, access controls, and scalable model lifecycle management. Must communicate across scientific, engineering, data, quality, and executive teams and influence without formal authority.
- Preferred: biotech/pharma and R&D or clinical workflow experience; work in regulated environments with CSV/quality teams; and partnership with data-governance organizations.
The position is hybrid, with on-site work at a U.S. Sarepta facility and/or attendance at company-sponsored in-person events from time to time. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. The targeted salary range is $206,000–$257,500 per year.
