About this role
The Technical Manager, Data and AI provides hands-on technical leadership for data platforms, analytics solutions and applied AI capabilities. Reporting to the Head of Technology, this individual contributor aligns concurrent Data and AI initiatives around coherent architecture, reusable solutions and sustainable engineering practices. The role works particularly closely with the Robotics team to connect robotics and automation initiatives to the broader data and AI platform ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Set and refine technical direction across initiatives, identify overlaps, gaps and risks, and establish consistent tooling and engineering practices.
- Lead the design of data platforms, analytics pipelines and AI solutions. Define reference architectures, design patterns and integration standards, and make technical decisions from data ingestion through model deployment.
- Contribute directly to development and deployment. Guide the delivery of production-ready data pipelines, analytics layers and AI models, including solution hardening, performance tuning and operational readiness.
- Establish technical standards and architectural guardrails; review designs and implementations for quality, compliance, consistency and reusability.
- Apply governance practices for data quality, lineage, access control and lifecycle management. Support model transparency, monitoring and risk mitigation in line with data protection, cybersecurity and organisational policies.
- Promote DataOps and MLOps practices, including versioning, testing, monitoring and automation. Work with IT and operations teams to maintain reliable deployed pipelines and models.
- Translate requirements with solution owners, engineers and domain experts; mentor colleagues and explain technical direction to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required qualifications
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline; 3–5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, analytics or AI solution development; proven technical leadership across multiple concurrent initiatives; and practical exposure to data governance, security and compliance.
Desired competencies: Data and AI architecture and solution design, technical strategy and alignment, data governance and responsible AI, MLOps and DataOps frameworks, and cross-team technical leadership. The position is located in Singapore.
