Senior AI Engineer

Shell seeks a Senior AI Engineer in Singapore to turn machine learning and generative AI concepts into production-ready products and services integrated with enterprise workflows. The role spans prototyping, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement, with a focus on measurable business value.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy and support AI, machine learning and generative AI solutions, including LLM-powered applications, scalable APIs and AI services.
• Work with data scientists to operationalize models and build evaluation, orchestration and retrieval pipelines. Support data preparation, model optimization and performance improvements.
• Implement experiment tracking, model versioning, monitoring and drift detection to maintain production reliability. Promote explainability, governance and risk mitigation.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions with product, platform, engineering, security and business teams. Contribute to engineering practices, knowledge sharing and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline; proven experience delivering AI, ML or software engineering solutions in production. No minimum number of years is stated.
• Strong Python skills; experience with SQL, Pandas, NumPy, Git and software development practices. Experience developing AI services with FastAPI, Flask, MLflow or similar tools; building LLM applications with LangChain, LlamaIndex or equivalent frameworks; integrating foundation model APIs; and using vector or graph databases. Understanding of machine learning, deployment and operationalization, plus strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Experience with Scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch; knowledge of deep learning, transformers, NLP, embeddings and RAG; exposure to computer vision; and experience with prompt engineering, fine-tuning and evaluation. Familiarity with MLOps, responsible AI, governance, observability and Azure is preferred. Experience in energy, trading, shipping, ETRM or regulated enterprise environments is a plus.
