About this role
Virtuos seeks a Lead Machine Learning Engineer for an autonomous, individual-contributor applied AI role in game development. The engineer will own AI systems from experimental proofs of concept through production deployment, integrating models into tools for artists and developers while addressing production bottlenecks.
Responsibilities
- Design agent workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph and LangChain, with MCP, RAG or GraphRAG, and custom skill integrations.
- Architect 2D, 3D and video generation pipelines using technologies such as Stable Diffusion and open-source LLMs, integrated with digital content creation (DCC) tools and game engines.
- Build evaluation frameworks and deploy efficient, cost-effective systems using Python, FastAPI, AWS services including SageMaker and Bedrock, and MLOps practices. Balance model fine-tuning with inference optimization.
- Scope ambiguous problems through proofs of concept, validate feasibility, and work with product and creative teams to turn technical constraints into realistic roadmaps.
Qualifications
- 7+ years building production systems with an ML/AI focus and a record of shipping code, or demonstrably equivalent transferable experience.
- Expertise in agent architectures, generative content workflows, or both; strong Python proficiency; and experience with AWS, LangChain or LangGraph, ComfyUI, or similar modern AI stacks.
- Ability to prototype independently, iterate through uncertainty, and choose pragmatically among off-the-shelf models, fine-tuning and simpler scripts.
