Twilio is seeking Senior and Staff level Applied Research Software Engineers to join their incubation team. This role focuses on rapid prototyping and developing innovative solutions using emerging technologies. You will work in a remote-first environment, contributing to Twilio's future offerings through hands-on technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and deploying prototypes, experimenting with AI and machine learning, and participating in code reviews and engineering best practices. Candidates must demonstrate an agentic coding operating model, leveraging LLMs and advanced development tools to accelerate AI-assisted coding. Required Qualifications: Senior level requires 3+ years of professional software development experience; Staff level requires 5+ years. Both levels require a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, proficiency in JavaScript, Python, or Java, and experience with front-end (React, Angular) and back-end (Node.js, Springboot) frameworks. Strong database knowledge (SQL/NoSQL) and the ability to navigate ambiguity are essential. Desired Qualifications: Exposure to AI/ML principles, knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), experience with distributed systems, and contributions to open source projects.
