About this role
Atlassian’s DevInfra Transformations team is building an internal platform and an end-to-end ML-enabled development cycle to help teams ship quality software faster. The Machine Learning Engineer II will develop AI functionality for Atlassian products and platforms, with particular emphasis on forecasting models.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement machine learning algorithms, train models, and build and scale ML capabilities using large datasets.
- Design system and model features, run experiments and model evaluations, and collaborate with engineering and analytics teams.
- Guide junior ML engineers and help turn data-backed hypotheses into features for internal and external use.
Required background:
- 5+ years of related industry experience in data science; a bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in Python or Java and production-quality, performant coding; familiarity with SQL and knowledge of Spark and cloud data environments such as AWS or Databricks.
- Experience applying and scaling ML models in business applications. Ability to explain data science concepts to varied audiences, prioritize practical business value, and work through continuous iteration with an agile mindset.
Preferred background: Experience with consumer/B2C SaaS or enterprise/B2B products, deep learning models, LLM-related applications, and solving ambiguous, complex problems.
