About this role
Within JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial & Investment Bank, this role builds production-grade applications and platform capabilities that embed LLM-enabled workflows into systems supporting business risk and controls. The engineer works with Business, Operations, Risk and Technology stakeholders to turn requirements into scalable, auditable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate resilient backend services and APIs. Integrate LLM and prompt capabilities with guardrails, fallback paths, response validation and auditability; manage API contracts, versioning and integrations.
- Implement retrieval-augmented generation and orchestration using LangChain or similar frameworks, connecting models to approved enterprise data and APIs. Develop vector search and embedding solutions, including indexing, metadata filtering, hybrid search and production scaling, subject to firm-approved tooling.
- Build AI application interfaces and dashboards, with React preferred. Design relational or NoSQL persistence, data models and schemas; use event-driven and asynchronous processing where appropriate, with attention to reliability and idempotency.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines and release controls. Apply unit, integration and end-to-end testing; establish logging, metrics, tracing and alerting; diagnose live-system performance and reliability issues.
Required: A BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems, or equivalent experience; 1+ years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering production systems; backend service and API development in Java and/or Python; distributed systems, service design and API contract management; cloud-native development and familiarity with AWS; CI/CD, release automation, modern deployment, testing and production readiness. Strong collaboration and communication skills are also required.
Preferred
1+ years integrating AI/LLM functionality into enterprise applications, including guardrails and monitoring; vector search, embeddings and RAG; observability platforms, SRE-style practices and secure SDLC governance; financial services, technology risk, controls or audit experience; and relevant cloud certifications.
