AI Engineer

Lexapar is seeking an AI Engineer to design, build, and ship AI-powered features for their legal technology platform. The role focuses on developing model harnesses, evaluation infrastructure, and agentic scaffolding to ensure reliable, production-grade AI performance in legal workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain model harnesses, evaluation suites, and regression test beds.
• Build and optimize RAG pipelines and agentic/tool-use workflows for legal document reasoning.
• Design and iterate on prompts, context strategies, and system architectures.
• Integrate foundation models and perform structured evaluations for quality, latency, and cost.
• Own the AI layer in production, including monitoring, guardrails, and observability.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and legal experts to translate workflows into AI features.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience building production applications using LLMs and AI models.
• Demonstrated experience building model evaluation infrastructure and test suites.
• Practical skills in RAG, agentic frameworks, prompt engineering, and orchestration.
• Strong backend and software engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to design and ship robust, well-tested production systems.
• Experience with both API-based and open-source models.
• Ability to operate with high autonomy in a fast-moving environment.

• Interest or exposure to legal technology, document-heavy workflows, or regulated industries.
