Siemens Energy is seeking a Robotics Engineer to develop and deploy production-ready robotics and automation solutions for industrial facilities. The role works with software engineers and automation specialists to translate operational needs into reliable, safe robotic systems and improve productivity, quality and operations.
Responsibilities
- Assess manufacturing processes to identify and prioritize automation opportunities; develop deployment strategies, operational plans and technology roadmaps.
- Evaluate robot platforms and select systems based on payload, reach, accuracy, speed, safety and lifecycle needs. Design robotic workcells, automation lines and production workflows.
- Apply expertise in actuation and motion hardware, transmissions and mechanical safety to optimize performance and meet industrial risk and safety standards. Specify end-effectors, tooling, vision and sensing solutions.
- Integrate robots with ROS/ROS2, APIs, SDKs, enterprise systems and cloud-connected platforms. Test, debug and validate perception, planning, control and execution on physical hardware, including offline programming and adaptive control; support field validation and continuous improvement.
Required qualifications
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying and supporting industrial robotic and automation systems in production. Candidates need mechanical design and CAD proficiency; knowledge of robot platforms, kinematics, manipulation, navigation, localization, perception, motion planning and safety; familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, MES, OPC UA, industrial protocols and factory automation architectures; and experience with enterprise and factory-system integration, fleet management, diagnostics, validation and troubleshooting. Understanding of safety standards, risk assessment, industrial compliance and production support is required.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with machine vision, robotic perception and learning-based autonomy; multi-robot fleet orchestration, monitoring, updates and lifecycle management; and NVIDIA hardware for GPU-accelerated workflows.
