Data Scientist II, ROW AOP, Analytics Operations and Programs

The Analytics Operations and Programs team develops scalable analytics applications, AI/ML products and research models for Rest of the World operations. This Data Scientist II role supports advanced analytics and machine learning by creating and maintaining data infrastructure and developing science-based supply chain solutions. The role works with product managers, engineers and scientists to deliver data and science products.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI agents for data analytics; analyze data using statistical and machine learning techniques; and build analyses and models with scripting languages and statistical or mathematical software.
• Document analyses and models, keep current with statistical and ML techniques and tools, and learn Amazon’s supply chain operations.
• Contribute to work addressing operational problems such as real-time truck capacity adjustments, last-mile channel allocation, automated insight generation using LLMs, middle-mile route optimization, pricing models, address-attribute synthesis and abuse detection.

Required qualifications

• At least 2 years of data scientist experience; 3+ years with data-querying languages, scripting languages or statistical/mathematical software; and 3+ years with machine learning or statistical-modeling analysis tools, techniques and performance parameters.
• 1+ years each of guiding and coaching researchers, working with or evaluating AI systems, and creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers or educational content.
• A master’s degree in STEM or experience working in STEM; experience applying theoretical models in an applied setting and developing AI agents.

Preferred qualifications

• A STEM Ph.D.; experience in an ML or data scientist role at a large technology company; defining benchmarks for GenAI model performance; cross-disciplinary, multi-team projects; and applying quantitative analysis to business decisions. Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, SageMaker, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda and EC2 is also preferred.
