About this role
The AI & Automation Engineer works within Thomson Reuters’ Enterprise Analytics Center of Excellence to transform manual operational processes into intelligent, end-to-end workflows. The role combines data engineering, AI systems and automation, assessing each process before deciding whether deterministic automation, agentic AI or both provide the right solution. The engineer partners with Data & Analytics colleagues, operations owners and non-technical stakeholders to design solutions and support adoption.
Responsibilities
- Assess and redesign business processes; identify high-value opportunities with business leaders, define success criteria and drive adoption.
- Build event-driven, threshold-based systems that replace manual reporting with personalized AI-generated narratives and push-based insights. Create feedback loops that route recipients’ responses and automate operational notifications, such as risk-flag escalations, with minimal human intervention.
- Integrate LLMs with semantic data models so non-technical users can query data in natural language. Work with semantic-model and architecture specialists to make models well-defined, explainable and suited to natural-language-query intent.
- Develop prompt frameworks, evaluation approaches and guardrails for reliable, auditable outputs aligned with business context. Deliver scalable reference implementations and reusable patterns; document and maintain solutions so colleagues can extend them.
- Share knowledge, guide team members in operating AI-enabled systems and contribute emerging AI and automation practices to the team’s technical direction.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience deploying production-grade AI-powered systems in operational workflows, including agentic workflows, orchestration, context engineering, evaluation and reliability.
- Strong data foundations, including preparing data for AI, semantic models and structured pipelines; experience connecting AI or LLM capabilities to structured sources such as semantic layers, data warehouses and APIs.
- Ability to design systems from data signals through AI reasoning to user-facing outputs. Experience with business-process mapping, event-driven architectures, trigger-based or real-time processing, and context-aware AI systems, including RAG using structured business metadata. Strong documentation practices and an interest in mentoring others are also sought. No specific years of experience or education requirement is stated.
