Independent Director — Enterprise Knowledge and AI Search Platform | General Management, Product Trust and Global Scale

Confidential Series C private company · Hyderabad, India

About this role

A confidential Series C enterprise AI search company seeks a General Management-oriented Independent Director in Hyderabad to help it become a trusted enterprise platform. The software discovers, retrieves and synthesises information from internal repositories and connected systems; the Board needs oversight of growth without compromising permissions, factual grounding or resilience. The commitment is 22–28 days annually. The initial term is subject to applicable law, the appointment process and shareholder approval where required.

Responsibilities

  • Guide market and geographic focus, product boundaries, customer value, pricing, major commitments, partnerships, acquisitions, financing and capital allocation. Assess proposals for repeatability, trust risk, compute economics, customer obligations, exit costs and leadership capacity.
  • Ensure indexing, retrieval, summaries, citations and cached outputs respect current source permissions, user identity, tenant boundaries and deletion. Oversee connector authorisation, data ingestion, prompt-injection exposure and third-party model dependencies.
  • Establish evidence-based product boundaries and answer-quality measures, including grounding, unsupported claims and stale sources. Require stronger validation, human review and visible uncertainty for high-impact uses; ensure serious permission leakage, cross-tenant exposure, fabricated high-consequence output and covert customer-data use can be escalated to the Board.
  • Strengthen enterprise deployment, security, service levels, incident response and customer-controlled administration. Review adoption, renewal, contribution, compute and support costs, implementation effort, vulnerabilities, availability and liquidity. Develop succession and incentives across critical leadership functions.
  • In the first year, examine major customer journeys, segmentation, permission architecture, answer-quality evidence, dependencies, unit economics and succession. The Board expects clearer strategy, trustworthy product boundaries, repeatable deployments and improved customer economics within twelve months.

Requirements and independence:

  • At least 22 years of senior leadership across enterprise software, information management, search, AI, cybersecurity, global product businesses or technology-enabled services. Suitable backgrounds may include CEO, COO, product or enterprise technology leadership, customer-success leadership, or scale-up directorship. Broad judgment in market, platform, organisational and capital decisions is sought rather than specialist model research.
  • Active inclusion in the IICA Independent Directors Databank is mandatory. Candidates must be independent of founders, investors, management and material counterparties; relevant relationships must be disclosed. The role cannot be used to originate business for connected parties. Compensation is not disclosed.
