About this role

Role Purpose: As a Data Engineer at Opella, you will play a critical role in defining, designing, and governing the enterprise data architecture that underpins analytics, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives across the company. You will partner with cross-functional teams including ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams to ensure architectural integrity and implement scalable, secure data solutions. Exposure to Secondary Market Research is mandatory for this role.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect enterprise-scale data Lakehouse solutions using Databricks, DBT, Unity Catalog, Iceberg, and cloud-native services.
  • Define data architecture blueprints, standards, and reference models for ingestion, storage, modeling, integration, governance, and consumption.
  • Lead the design of logical, conceptual, and physical data models supporting analytics, operational reporting, master data, and ML/AI use cases.
  • Architect high-performance batch, streaming, and CDC ingestion frameworks.
  • Oversee the implementation of data governance, lineage, quality, and security frameworks.
  • Provide leadership in diagnosing design challenges and evolving the data architecture roadmap.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of combined experience across data architecture, data engineering, and cloud data platforms, with strong proficiency in Azure services.
  • Proven track record architecting and delivering enterprise lakehouse architectures using Databricks and Apache Iceberg.
  • Strong background in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling (Dimensional, Data Vault, Data Mesh, semantic modeling).
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks Workflows, Apache Airflow, and dbt.
  • Familiarity with DevOps/DataOps practices (Git, CI/CD, orchestration, observability, IaC).
  • Experience architecting solutions for large-scale data ingestion from systems like SAP ERP, Salesforce CRM, Workday, and various cloud storage services.
  • Fluent in English and ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enthusiasm for AI, ML, and modern automation tooling.
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Functional knowledge of FMCG/FMCH business processes.
