The API Enablement Engineer will join the Integration Delivery team at Opella to drive the adoption of an API-first culture. This role focuses on improving API discoverability, governance, reuse, and developer experience while preparing enterprise APIs to be consumable by AI agents. Responsibilities include managing the Kong API platform, defining API standards, and collaborating with GenAI initiatives to expose business capabilities via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Key Responsibilities: API Enablement: Drive API-first practices, maintain an enterprise API catalog, and define metrics for API adoption and business value. API Platform: Support and improve the Kong API Management platform, contributing to security and versioning standards. AI & Innovation: Prepare APIs for AI agent consumption, support MCP adoption, and explore AI-assisted discovery and governance. Integration Delivery: Design API-led solutions, contribute to SAP Integration Suite implementations, and develop reusable integration assets. Community & Enablement: Evangelize API principles, deliver technical guidance, and coach teams on design best practices. Required Qualifications: 8+ years of professional experience in Enterprise Integration, API Management, or Solution Engineering. Proven experience in implementing API-led strategies and working in enterprise integration environments. Strong knowledge of API governance and lifecycle management. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with GraphQL, AsyncAPI, SAP BTP, Kubernetes, and AI Agents/MCP. Soft Skills: Strategic mindset, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to influence without formal authority.
