Hella Gutmann seeks a Principal Software Engineer for its India Software Development Centre in Gurugram. The role designs scalable data and AI systems for vehicle diagnostics, telematics and service solutions, with an emphasis on agentic AI, automation and intelligent decision-making. The introduction describes an ideal candidate with approximately 15 years of software engineering experience; the visible required qualifications specify 10+ years.
Responsibilities
- Design high-performance data platforms and pipelines in C++ and Python for large-scale vehicle diagnostics, telemetry and IoT data. Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, real-time streaming systems and data lakes for structured and unstructured data.
- Maintain distributed-system performance, reliability and maintainability, and ensure data governance, quality and availability.
- Lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, collaborate with global teams and translate business needs into solutions aligned with automotive standards.
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience; strong hands-on C++ and Python expertise; and experience using SQL databases for storage, querying and validation.
- Proven experience building distributed systems and data pipelines and working with large-scale data processing systems. Strong understanding of system design, algorithms, performance optimization, microservices, event-driven architecture and automotive protocols including CAN, OBD-II, ODX, OTX, UDS and DoIP.
Preferred qualifications
- Automotive experience with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, diagnostics or telematics; exposure to AI/ML systems, LLMs, AI agents, intelligent automation or multi-agent and autonomous workflows.
- Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP; Kafka, Flink or Spark; knowledge of knowledge organization systems; familiarity with big-data ecosystems; or experience leading global engineering teams or major initiatives.
