Director – Cell Therapy IT, Software Engineering - Salesforce

About this role

Role Purpose: As the Director of Cell Therapy IT, you will lead a global engineering organization to build and industrialize enterprise-grade systems, including a Cell Orchestration platform. You will be responsible for the digital backbone that delivers next-generation cell therapies at scale, influencing the speed and safety of therapy delivery from treatment sites to manufacturing lines and patients. Responsibilities: Define and evolve a scalable technology strategy and reference architecture for vein-to-vein cell therapy operations. Lead the build and delivery of a Salesforce-based cellular coordination system. Own end-to-end software delivery, including DevSecOps, automation, and quality assurance. Orchestrate integrations across Salesforce, MuleSoft, AWS, and event streaming platforms. Ensure regulatory compliance (GxP, HIPAA, FDA, GDPR) throughout the development lifecycle. Drive the development of agentic AI and autonomous software agents to automate complex operational tasks. Guide the industrialization of Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud and leverage GenAI for SDLC automation. Mentor a global team of engineers and solution architects while managing external partners. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 12 years of software development experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within life sciences, biotech, or manufacturing IT. Expertise in Salesforce (Service Cloud and Life Sciences), AWS, Azure, Python, MuleSoft, and Kafka. Proven experience in leading multiple global product development teams and deploying solutions in regulated environments. Preferred Qualifications: Salesforce certifications (e.g., Application Architect, System Architect, Platform Developer II). Hands-on experience with Agentic AI tools and frameworks, and familiarity with AI/ML features like Einstein. Working Arrangement: This role is based in Chennai, India. AstraZeneca operates on a hybrid model, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
