About this role
Pearson is seeking a visionary Enterprise Architect to join their Enterprise Architecture team. This is a hands-on practitioner role focused on bridging the gap between traditional distributed enterprise systems and the emerging frontier of Agentic AI. The successful candidate will drive architectural strategy, govern AI agent ecosystems, and ensure scalable, resilient integration across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architectural Strategy: Own and maintain the enterprise architecture blueprint, defining reference architectures and reusable patterns for agentic AI systems including orchestration, memory management, and guardrails.
- AI Agent Ecosystems: Design and govern multi-agent systems, including communication protocols, tool-calling interfaces, and standards for grounding and context management. Evaluate and select orchestration frameworks.
- Modeling & Governance: Chair the Architecture Review Chapter, manage Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and define non-negotiable guardrails for AI systems regarding data access, PII handling, and audit logging.
Required Qualifications
- 12-15 years of progressive experience in software engineering and solution architecture.
- Hands-on experience with LLM application architecture, RAG pipelines, agent frameworks, and prompt engineering.
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization (Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong background in distributed systems design, including event-driven architecture and microservices.
- Experience designing enterprise data architectures and modeling artifacts using frameworks like ArchiMate, C4, or TOGAF.
- Demonstrated ability to strategize and develop Proof of Concepts (PoCs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience building or working with an enterprise digital twin or equivalent simulation/dependency-modeling capability is a strong plus.
- Experience participating in or maturing an EA governance process (ARB, ADRs) from scratch.
