About this role
Role Purpose: As a Sr Engineer on the Cybersecurity AI Activation and Engineering team, you will design and deliver AI-powered capabilities that align with Target's engineering and security standards. You will focus on building automated capabilities for external attack-surface reconnaissance, management, and safe security validation. Responsibilities: You will provide subject matter expertise, refine capability requirements, and test competing approaches while balancing risk and stability. You will partner with security and engineering teams to design secure-by-design solutions, leveraging modern AI to improve analyst productivity. This includes evaluating, prototyping, and implementing emerging AI technologies such as Agentic AI frameworks, agentic workflow automation, and tool orchestration. You will also provide thought leadership to promote re-use and develop consistent, scalable patterns across teams. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum 3+ years of experience in offensive security, network security testing, external attack-surface management, security engineering, or related work. Hands-on expertise in external asset discovery, DNS and network enumeration, service identification, technology fingerprinting, vulnerability assessment, and safe, scope-controlled security testing. Proficiency in building or integrating security tools using Python, Go, Bash, or a comparable language. Demonstrated history of rapid prototyping, iterative development, and close collaboration with internal customers. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Interest in applying AI and Agentic AI capabilities to cybersecurity use cases is essential.
