The Applied AI team at Databricks is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Search team in Bengaluru. This role focuses on advancing AI/ML-powered search and discovery relevance models to improve how customers find assets like tables, notebooks, and ML models on the Databricks platform. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing automated ML and NLP pipelines for query understanding, ranking, and retrieval, as well as building robust frameworks for offline and online evaluation. You will collaborate with product managers to drive technology-first initiatives and contribute to the evolution of the search product. Requirements include a BS in Computer Science (MS or PhD preferred) and at least 5 years of experience developing search relevance systems at scale. Candidates should have experience applying LLMs to search relevance and proficiency in areas such as NLP, text mining, recommendations, or conversational AI. A strong foundation in computer science and a history of contributions to open-source projects are highly valued.
