Senior Software Engineer - AI/ML (Context Services)

Cognite seeks a Senior Software Engineer for its Context Services team in Bengaluru, India. The role leads production systems and bridges Applied Scientists and AI Engineers with central Platform Engineering, turning analytical solutions—from traditional machine learning and deep learning models to LLM agents—into reliable software services for industrial data problems.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable system architectures and low-latency APIs and services capable of supporting thousands of concurrent users with sub-second response times.
• Work with product, architecture and AI teams to translate industrial data problems into scalable solutions.
• Architect model-serving frameworks, vector database integrations and agentic workflows, including reliable state management and prompt tracking.
• Coordinate with the central Platform team to use core infrastructure for reliable AI pipelines and workflows. Drive research, prototyping and potential open-source contributions.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of industry experience in software, backend or systems engineering, with exposure to production AI, ML or LLM systems.
• Strong Python proficiency and experience with high-concurrency applications, asynchronous programming or REST/gRPC APIs.
• Solid understanding of Docker and modern deployment environments such as Kubernetes or cloud platforms. An ability to learn new paradigms is essential.
• Familiarity with the broader AI lifecycle, including traditional model registries, vector databases or LLM evaluation frameworks, is a major plus.
