Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Circles seeks a Senior Software Engineer (AI) to build production-grade AI capabilities across its backend services for consumer-facing journeys. Responsibilities

• Partner with Product and Design to identify agentic AI use cases, and with frontend, backend and QA teams to deliver features with measurable business impact.
• Design planning and execution loops, safe tool/function calling, multi-agent workflows and failure handling. Build RAG pipelines covering document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector indexing, retrieval tuning and grounded answers with citations where needed.
• Develop secure, scalable AI APIs, SDKs and integrations for frontend applications, internal systems, data sources and third-party tools. Implement authentication, least-privilege access, RBAC, rate limits, retries, timeouts, budget controls and provider failover.
• Apply PII redaction or masking, content moderation, audit logging and policy-aligned access controls. Automate evaluations of task success, response quality, hallucination, latency and cost; establish traces, metrics, logs and dashboards. Improve reliability and cost through caching, queuing and fallback mechanisms.
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, documentation, runbooks, staged rollouts, incident response, technical design reviews and maintainable production code.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and operating agentic AI/LLM systems in production; strong Python proficiency, agent orchestration and RAG expertise. Experience with frameworks or platforms such as LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, OpenAI APIs, pgvector or Pinecone, plus secure API engineering, evaluation and observability practices.
