Machine Learning Engineer, VP

NatWest Digital X is hiring a vice-president-level Machine Learning Engineer to develop and productionise machine learning products for the group and its customers. The role focuses on deploying, automating, maintaining and monitoring models and algorithms so they perform effectively in production.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues to design advanced machine learning products, transform data science prototypes into production solutions, and codify and automate model production, including pipeline optimisation.
• Design, develop, test and deploy machine learning pipelines while preserving the original intent of the models. Build monitoring frameworks to assess production quality and performance, identify shortfalls and address them, including through retraining.
• Understand stakeholders’ requirements, explain how machine learning supports business strategy, and promote data literacy among business stakeholders.
• Plan and deliver larger or complex cross-team projects. Lead direct reports and wider multidisciplinary data and analytics teams using Agile practices to achieve project and Scrum outcomes.

Requirements

• An academic background in a STEM discipline, such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Computer Science, and an overall 10 years of experience with machine learning on large datasets.
• Understanding of machine learning approaches and algorithms, overfitting, model evaluation metrics, MLOps and LLMOps. Experience building, testing, supporting and deploying models in production.
• Experience with Python and relevant libraries; machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch; and AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Azure for model deployment. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as TeamCity and CodeDeploy, Git version control, and containerisation such as Docker.
• Communication skills for working with varied stakeholders and experience coaching others.

The position is a permanent, full-time role in Bangalore, India. All normal working days must be carried out in India.
