About this role
The Director will build and lead the Applied AI delivery capability at First Citizens India in Bangalore. Working in a hybrid arrangement with U.S.-based Enterprise AI leadership and architecture teams, the role turns prioritized banking AI and advanced analytics opportunities into secure, measurable solutions across data science, machine learning and generative AI.
Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of Applied AI use cases, from problem framing and experimentation through evaluation, documentation, deployment readiness and monitoring. Direct solution architecture, model selection, prompt strategies and implementation; assess emerging technologies and vendors.
- Establish reusable patterns for model lifecycle management, vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, AI orchestration, LLMOps and observability. Help define modern data and AI architecture and enable AI/ML and generative AI workloads on secure enterprise platforms.
- Partner with AI portfolio and architecture teams to develop technical plans, surface data and platform dependencies, governance needs and production risks, and align delivered capabilities with business workflows.
- Embed Responsible AI, security, privacy, compliance and auditability in delivery. Work with model risk, enterprise risk, cybersecurity, legal and architecture review teams to establish guardrails and reusable controls.
- Lead and coach architects, technical specialists and Applied AI practitioners; manage capacity, establish quality and knowledge-sharing practices, and communicate decisions and risks across geographically distributed teams.
Required qualifications
At least 12 years in data architecture, data engineering, enterprise architecture, Applied AI, data science, analytics engineering or a related discipline; at least 5 years leading architecture teams, technology organizations, AI/data delivery teams or transformation initiatives; and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, data science or a related field. Relevant capabilities include statistical modeling, NLP, experimentation, cloud data platforms, batch and streaming processing, data governance, MLOps and LLMOps, plus executive communication and cross-functional leadership.
Preferred qualifications
A relevant master’s degree; experience with AWS, Snowflake and enterprise AI platforms; experience in regulated industries such as banking, insurance or healthcare; and collaboration with portfolio, product or business-facing delivery teams.
