About this role
UnitedHealth Group is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade AI solutions with a focus on Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and intelligent application development. The role involves translating complex business problems into scalable AI-powered solutions within the healthcare domain.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy Agentic AI solutions using LLMs, multi-step reasoning, and orchestration workflows.
- Build and maintain RAG-based applications, including document ingestion, vector search, and retrieval strategies.
- Develop AI-powered workflow automation to enhance operational efficiency.
- Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise microservices and cloud-native platforms.
- Implement prompt engineering, model evaluation, guardrails, and observability for AI performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, data engineers, and product owners.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and ensure compliance with responsible AI, security, and data privacy standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of overall software engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience with Agentic AI concepts (tool calling, planning, memory) and RAG architecture.
- Proficiency in Java/Spring Boot and/or Python.
- Experience with frameworks like Spring AI, LangChain, and LangGraph.
- Experience with cloud-native AI services (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, SageMaker) and DevOps practices (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
- Knowledge of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, FAISS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in AWS, Azure AI Engineering, or cloud architecture.
- Prior knowledge of the US Healthcare domain.
