AI Data Engineer

The AI Data Engineer role is in Infosys Limited’s Data & Analytics Unit in Bangalore. It focuses on production-grade data pipelines and curated datasets that support analytics, reporting, AI/ML workloads and GenAI initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest, transform and curate data from multiple sources. Develop data models and datasets, including feature-ready and retrieval-ready data for downstream AI use.
• Implement data quality checks, validation rules and monitoring for accuracy, completeness and reliability. Troubleshoot pipeline failures and performance bottlenecks, improving scalability, latency and cost efficiency.
• Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define data contracts and deliver reusable data assets. Document pipelines, transformations, data lineage and operational runbooks.

Required qualifications

• 3–5 years of data engineering experience with hands-on ownership of production-grade pipelines.
• BTech, MTech, MCA, MSc or equivalent education; the listed educational requirements also include Bachelor of Engineering.
• Strong experience with ETL extraction, transformation, orchestration and scheduling; working exposure to GenAI-oriented data preparation and AI/ML data workflows; and the ability to translate stakeholder requirements into scalable data solutions.

Preferred qualifications and skills:

• Experience with scalable data architectures, reusable data frameworks, retrieval workflows and knowledge augmentation datasets. Experience improving pipeline reliability through automation, alerting and proactive monitoring, and optimizing transformations to reduce processing time.
• Experience in agile teams, code reviews, documentation and engineering best practices. Listed good-to-have skills include SQL, Python, Apache Spark, Airflow and data modeling; Databricks and explainable AI are also listed as preferred skills.
