About this role
Cevo is seeking a Senior AI Engineer who will work as a Forward Deployed Engineer, embedding with enterprise clients in financial services, energy and government. Based in Sydney in a hybrid, full-time role, the engineer will combine consulting, cloud architecture, software engineering and AI delivery to build production-grade solutions tied to client outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Define business outcomes and success metrics with clients, deliver rapid prototypes, and shorten discovery-to-build cycles to weeks.
- Design agentic AI systems using Anthropic and AWS, including RAG pipelines, multi-agent orchestration, LLM-powered assistants, prompt frameworks and evaluation pipelines for hallucination and reasoning quality.
- Use Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker for model development, fine-tuning, vector retrieval and lifecycle management. Deploy solutions end to end and integrate them with enterprise CRMs, ERPs and data lakes.
- Incorporate explainability, bias testing and human-in-the-loop controls, with attention to APRA, ASIC and CPS 230/234 compliance.
Required experience and skills:
- 5–8+ years in software engineering, data science and ML, including 2+ years of hands-on GenAI development involving LLMs, RAG, agents and evaluation.
- Demonstrated delivery of production-grade AI systems; strong Python, SQL, Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock Agents skills; experience deploying ML models; and understanding of APIs and AI services across AWS.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
Highly desirable: Forward Deployed, embedded consulting or solutions engineering experience; SageMaker Pipelines; vector databases and Graph RAG; agent orchestration frameworks; regulated-industry and model risk management experience; and experience building AI platforms, assistants or internal tools.
